Loot boxes are one of the current controversies, perhaps the most intense, in relation to the video game industry. Several titles were launched with this type of functionality, namely the great “star wars battlefront 2” and “overwatch” , and for several months now a chorus of criticism has been growing in relation to the subject. For many responsible players, players are being exposed to a feature that they would otherwise be legally prevented from using. Similar to a casino game this is, in practice, a feature in which the player can be lucky enough to win an extra prize, such as a more powerful weapon or an aesthetic ornament, for a small payment. It does not always happen and the player cannot, of course, choose the prize he will win.

However the payment in cash to be able to risk – the so-called microtransaction – is 100% guaranteed in the company's coffers. The mechanism is, obviously, similar to a casino game and that is exactly what various authorities and personalities have been reporting over the last few months, in Phone Number List several countries. With the aggravating factor that the main target of this type of games is made up of teenagers and minors, more likely to risk without control, while casinos are intended for adults. Loot boxes from australia to belgium in several countries, criticisms have multiplied.

The belgian government declared that loot boxes should be banned throughout the european union ; a us senator questioned the industry's self-regulation body in the united states , demanding clarification and a position taken; and in australia , the abc newspaper published a long report on the subject, in which a member of the australian senate, only 24 years old, declared that it would be important for the authority to take a position. (in his words, many of his fellow senators are still “in pacman times” when it comes to video games.) shadow of war retreats a sign that the electronic games industry may be definitely retreating from this battleground came from monolith productions.
